Winning While Still Committing to Academics.
The research topic of academic clustering among college student-athletes (SA) typically includes group differences (Fountain & Finley, 2009; Schneider, Ross, & Fisher, 2010). Moreover, frequently the sample that investigators focus on are men’s NCAA Division 1 programs (Houston & Baber, 2017; Schneider et al., 2010; Fountain & Finley, 2009). The purpose of this study is to shed light on a women’s NCAA Division 2 softball program that displays the possibility for the SA to be successful on the field and in the classroom. This pilot study includes firsthand testimonial from the head coach that includes what works and what doesn't when collaborating with college professors.
