Social behaviors are part of the PE national standards 4 and 5. However, planning, implementing and assessing these standards in a consistent way can be challenging. The teaching of social behaviors in PE should be deliberate and contextual. In addition, students need to know how they are held accountable during lessons. The purpose of this presentation is to provide teachers with information on how to implement a step-by-step a group contingency strategy that can help them to teach and assess social behaviors that are relevant to their classes. _x000D_
By the end of this presentation, participants will be able to: (a) select observable and relevant behaviors to be taught in their classes, (b) elaborate a context specific social skill strategy that fits to a particular content to be taught or to a particular class, (c) use this teaching strategy as an authentic assessment of students’ social behaviors.
